Cooking short ribs is a low and slow process that rewards you with tender braised beef. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My Red Wine Braised Short Ribs are perfect for a romantic dinner at home for two and comes together in about two hours. Don\u2019t worry though, the actual prep time takes 20 minutes or less. You\u2019ll pop your short ribs into the oven and forget about them while you prep a side of mashed potatoes or read a book. The long cook time makes short ribs a great dinner party recipe while you set up for guests to arrive but be aware that cooking five pounds of short ribs will take you four hours instead of two. If you need more oil to sweat out the vegetables, you can add a tablespoon of vegetable oil. <\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-429-step-2-1\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Add in the minced garlic and stir until fragant (about 30 seconds).<\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-429-step-2-2\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Add in <span class=\"wprm-inline-ingredient wprm-inline-ingredient-429-5 wprm-block-text-bold\" data-both-units=\"0\">2 tsp tomato paste<\/span> and stir until it turns a deep red brick color (about 2 minutes). <\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-429-step-2-3\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Add <span class=\"wprm-inline-ingredient wprm-inline-ingredient-429-7 wprm-block-text-bold\" data-both-units=\"0\">2 cups beef or chicken stock<\/span> and <span class=\"wprm-inline-ingredient wprm-inline-ingredient-429-6 wprm-block-text-bold\" data-both-units=\"0\">1 cup red wine<\/span>.<\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-429-step-2-4\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Add <span class=\"wprm-inline-ingredient wprm-inline-ingredient-429-8 wprm-block-text-bold\" data-both-units=\"0\">3 sprigs thyme<\/span>, <span class=\"wprm-inline-ingredient wprm-inline-ingredient-429-9 wprm-block-text-bold\" data-both-units=\"0\">1 bay leaf<\/span>, and <span class=\"wprm-inline-ingredient wprm-inline-ingredient-429-10 wprm-block-text-bold\" data-both-units=\"0\">a sprig of parsley<\/span>.<\/span><\/div><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-group\"><h4 class=\"wprm-recipe-group-name wprm-recipe-instruction-group-name wprm-block-text-bold\">Cook the short ribs<\/h4><ul class=\"wprm-recipe-instructions\"><li id=\"wprm-recipe-429-step-3-0\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Add your short ribs back into the Dutch oven. The stew\/liquid should cover at least two-thirds of the meat if not completely. If your short ribs are bigger and the liquid does not cover at least two-thirds of the meat, you can add water to make sure it cooks evenly. <\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-429-step-3-1\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Bring the stew to a boil. Once it&#39;s boiling cover the Dutch oven and place it in the oven at 300 degrees for two hours.<\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-429-step-3-2\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">After two hours, carefully take the Dutch oven pot out of the oven and put it back on the stove. <\/span><\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-429-step-3-3\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\"><span style=\"display: block;\">Turn off the oven. Remove the meat and place it on an oven-safe baking sheet.
