Hot Chocolate

Rich and creamy hot chocolate recipe with dark chocolate and milk.

Ingredients

  • 400 g 72% cacao dark chocolate about 4 chocolate bars or 1 pound
  • 12 cups milk a little less than one gallon
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract optional

Instructions

  • Roughly chop 400 g 72% cacao dark chocolate. Set aside some shavings for toppings.
  • Add 12 cups milk, chopped chocolate, and 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powderto a large pot over medium heat. Whisk the ingredients in for a few minutes until the dark chocolate pieces have melted.
    Keep warm but do not allow the milk to boil.
  • Once the chocolate has melted, taste it. If you would like it a bit sweeter add 1 tsp vanilla extract.
  • Serve with a ladle into mugs, add toppings like marshmallows, and enjoy.
